Colgate's Bright Smiles, Bright Futures®
Reaching More Than Half a Billion Children Around The World with Oral Health Education
South Africa Program
In South Africa, the Bright Smiles Bright Futures program reaches about 500,000 Grade 1-3 learners every year, with plans to reach the full Grade 1-3 population by 2015. Colgate-Palmolive, in coordination with the Ministry of Basic Education, Ministry of Health and the South African Dental Association identifies schools in need of basic Oral Education and screening and provides classroom learning kits to be administered by the teachers and health care Professionals who visit the schools.
Each interactive kit contains classroom DVD’s, workbooks, posters and other learning tools, along with samples of toothpaste and toothbrushes for the children who participate. Through these materials and instruction, children learn the basics of proper oral hygiene and the role of a healthy diet in taking care of their oral health.
